ISO/TS 16949 (Automotive)
ISO/TS 16949 is a Technical Specification not an ISO standard. The
International Automotive Task Force (IATF), which consists of an international
group of vehicle manufacturers, wrote ISO/TS 16949 in conjunction with the
International Organization for Standards (ISO). This specification aligns
existing American (QS-9000), German (VDA6.1), French (EAQF) and Italian (AVSQ)
automotive quality systems standards within the global automotive industry.
Encompassed within the ISO/TS 16949 specification is the complete ISO 9001:2000
standard. The additional portions of the ISO/TS 16949 standard contain specific
requirements for automotive suppliers. The main goal of both standards is to
achieve improved customer satisfaction.
This specification is applicable to automotive suppliers that manufacture “parts
that go on cars”. It is also applicable to organizations in the automotive
supply chain where value added manufacturing processes occur such as heat
treating, welding, painting, plating and finishing services.
AS9100 (Aerospace)
AS9100 is an international aerospace standard for quality assurance,
development, production, installation, and servicing. AS9100 is
based around the popular ISO9001:2000. The key difference between
the two is the supplements to ISO9001:2000 in order to satisfy
internal, governmental, and regulatory requirements. AS9100 was
developed to satisfy the higher expectations for companies supplying
the aerospace industry facing a complex global marketplace. Worldwide,
this industry is affected by multiple regulatory systems, stringent
requirements, and intense levels of competition. AS9100 is the
first single standard accepted and available for use across the
global aerospace community.
ISO 9001 (International)
ISO9001:2000 quality management system standard provides guidelines
for performance improvement of quality management systems that
ultimately generate value to the end use customer. The 2000 revision
of the ISO9000 standard now focuses on continuous improvement through
a process-based approach. This approach provides a quality management
system that more closely matches the business needs of the operation.
ISO 14001 Certified (Environmental)
ISO 14001 Environmental Management System assures that our processes
exceed the federal and state requirements for protection and prevention
of pollution. We are committed to providing the best solutions
in a socially responsible manner that benefits our customers, the
supply base and our community.
ISO 14000 is a series of consensus standards that defines various
aspects of an effective Environmental Management System (EMS).
ISO 14001 defines a model for establishing an environmental management
system that incorporates features that represent essential elements
of an effective Environmental Management System. ISO 14001 provides
the framework for an overall strategic approach to establishing
and defining environmental plans, policies and actions. It is a
generic document that is applicable to all industries and the underlying
philosophy is that requirements for effective management systems
are universal business practices, regardless of the industry to
which they are applied.
